WZ Defender changelog

Every change in every version, from the newest to the first.

Format MAJOR.MINOR.BUILD: the minor number goes up with new features and the build is a running number for every release. While the major number is 0, the app is in BETA.

v0.10.45 October 25, 2026CURRENTSpanish only
v0.10.44 October 25, 2026Spanish only
v0.10.43 October 25, 2026Spanish only
  • Ícono: clic = abrir WZ Defender (Clips); clic derecho: Abrir WZ Defender, Ajustes…, Guardar clip, Detector, carpeta, Ayuda, registro, Buscar actualizaciones (abre Ayuda → Actualizaciones ya buscando), Reiniciar y Salir.
v0.9.42 October 25, 2026Spanish only
v0.9.41 October 25, 2026Spanish only
v0.8.40 October 25, 2026
  • More compact, more direct AI analysis: same sections, but with limits: a 1–2 sentence summary, the cause in 1 sentence, at most 3 mistakes, 2 things done right and 3 tips (short, starting with a verb), at most 5 key moments and at most 3 signs in «Was it fair?». The analyses you already had stay as they are; «Analyze again» redoes them in the short format.
v0.8.39 October 25, 2026
  • Analyze with AI from the player: the Stats clip stops and its player closes; only the AI window with the clip remains (before, both stayed open with the same video).
v0.8.38 October 25, 2026
  • Kills = the number with the SKULL above it, regardless of the column: at the start there may be a deployment-plane column on the right and, with win streaks, another «X1, X2…» column on the left. Each counter number is placed in its column and the icon right above it is checked (a narrow strip: the NVIDIA panel higher up no longer gets in the way). The skull is ~1.1 times the height of a digit and almost square (teams, players and the arrows are taller). If at that moment it’s an arrow (it just changed), the column where the skull was is used.
  • The learned counter position only changes if it looks the same 3 times in a row.
  • Tested with your 182 frames (1→2, 2→3→4, 4→5, 1, 13, 9→10, 0) and with frames built with a plane column and a streak column.
v0.8.37 October 25, 2026
  • Match kills = the skull, read without OCR. In your 03:00 match (skull at 1, 4, 5) the log said «no icon» the whole time: NVIDIA’s performance panel ended up on top of the counter and the icons turn into arrows when they change, so looking for the skull by its icon failed. Now (contador.rs):
    • the counter’s NUMBERS (not the icons) are searched for and their position is learned automatically the first time all 3 numbers are seen, and saved in data\contador.json;
    • if there’s a number in all 3 columns, the one on the right is your skull; the digits are recognized by their SHAPE (templates of the HUD font), without Windows OCR, which couldn’t read them.
    • Tested with 182 frames from today’s clips: the overlay would have shown exactly what the game did (1→2, 2→3→4, 4→5, 1, 13, 9→10, 0), with the NVIDIA panel and the arrows on top.
    • In the log, every minute: [CONTADOR] Último minuto: N con calavera (última: X)….
v0.8.36 October 25, 2026
  • Match kills in the overlay with your first kill: the skull showed «1» and Windows OCR can’t read a lone «1» (in the log: «38 ícono sin número»), so the overlay never went up. Now the number is also recognized by its SHAPE (one thin vertical stroke = 1, two = 11). Tested with the frames from your 02:42 match (it reads it in 11 of 12 frames with a skull; 2 matching reads are enough) and without confusing 9, 10 or 13. The final screen can no longer lower the kills (if OCR reads 0 and the skull said 1, it stays at 1).
  • Full killcam: with a bright sky the KILLCAM sign (white on light gray) was barely readable and the clip was saved halfway through the killcam (a «3 s» killcam in the log; in your 02:45 clip it was still on screen when it got cut). Now, during a death, it’s also read in its own strip, as is and with contrast cleanup, and the bar at the bottom of the killcam («KILLED BY» / «REPORT PLAYER») counts too. The killcam ends after 6 s without any sign (3 s before): the clip gets a few extra seconds instead of cutting it off.
v0.8.35 October 25, 2026
  • Selection like in Mail: in Stats every event has a checkbox (instead of the trash can). Tick one or several (Shift+click ticks a continuous range) and a floating bar appears at the bottom with how many you have, Select all / Deselect all, 📌 Archive (or Unarchive) and 🗑 Delete. Before deleting, a notice shows how many clips will be deleted and which ones stay because they have other events. Esc deselects; Del deletes. There’s also a «Select all» checkbox above the list. 📌 next to the event = its clip is archived.
v0.8.34 October 25, 2026
  • Recognizes which Call of Duty is open, like WZ Control: cod25-cod.exe = Warzone · Black Ops 7 (the main one), cod.exe and cod26-cod.exe = Modern Warfare 4, any other codNN-cod.exe = «Call of Duty (codNN)». If two are open, Warzone wins. It’s shown at the top of Settings, in the menu and in the tray icon’s tooltip, and in the log ([JUEGO] Abierto: …). Each match saves which game it was played in ("juego").
  • The detector only reads when one of those games is in the foreground (it no longer guesses from «fullscreen window»).
v0.8.33 October 25, 2026
  • Clips of just the event: before, each clip saved almost a minute. Now it goes from 5 s before the event until it ends ([clips] segundos_antes = 5, replaces segundos_antes_baja / segundos_antes_muerte). The 60 s buffer remains the margin for detection.
  • Full killcam: a death clip goes from 5 s before you were downed until the KILLCAM sign disappears (it tolerates frames OCR can’t read, up to 45 s). killcam and fin_killcam markers in the .json.
  • Downs: they’re read from the killfeed on the left («Enemy [weapon] You»), the most reliable way to know when and who downed you. If no killcam follows within 5 s, it’s a down (its own event and clip); if you get finished off later, the death says who had downed you (derribado_por). If the killcam card can’t be read, the name comes from the killfeed. The winner’s «FINAL KILL» killcam no longer counts as your death.
  • No false positives with the game minimized: the detector only reads when the game is in the foreground (by the window’s program: cod.exe…). Before, it read your screen (the viewer, a chat) as if it were the game.
  • Detector on / off instantly: in the icon’s menu and in Settings, without restarting.
  • Stats: ▶ view plays only that moment, looped (🔁 Repeat) and with 🐢 0.4× slow motion, with the clip’s events to jump between them. 🗑 deletes an event (and its clip with its .json and its analysis if it has no events left); «Delete clip» in the player. 📌 Archive: that clip is never deleted even if the space fills up. A gauge of the clip space against the limit (also in Settings). The limit applies without restarting.
  • AI analysis: the AI only sees the event’s segment (startOffset / endOffset), not the whole clip.
v0.8.32 October 25, 2026
  • Watch just the moment: clicking a second in the analysis plays only that piece (2 s before and 3 s after) and loops it. 🔁 Repeat (if you untick it, it stops at the end of the piece) and 🐢 Slow motion 0.4× checkboxes; both are remembered. Watch full video goes back to normal playback.
  • On wide screens the video stays in view while you read the analysis.
v0.8.31 October 25, 2026
  • The AI analysis is shown live: which model is working, a timer, the clip upload (MB and speed), the file’s status at Google, a log of each step (busy models, retries…), what the AI is «thinking» while it reviews your play and the tokens it uses. At the end, the analysis says which model it was made with and how many tokens it used.
v0.8.30 October 25, 2026
  • AI analysis when Gemini is busy: before, if the first model answered «high demand» (503), it gave up. Now it tries the other free models and, if they’re all busy, it waits and retries on its own (up to 3 rounds).
v0.8.29 October 25, 2026
  • AI clip analysis (Gemini, free). In Stats, next to each clip, 🧠 analyze (also in the player) opens the analysis window: it tells you how and why the fight happened, your aim (crosshair placement, tracking, recoil, missed shots), your positioning, your mistakes and things done right with the exact second, tips and the key moments (click = the video jumps to that second).
  • Was it fair? If the clip includes the killcam, the AI checks for odd signs (tracking you through walls or smoke, instant flicks to the head…) and gives a suspicion level with the possible legitimate explanation for each sign. It’s only a suspicion to know whether the fight was even: it never accuses anyone.
  • Settings → AI: paste your free Gemini key (aistudio.google.com/apikey, no card) and press «Test key». Automatic model (if one isn’t available or its daily limit runs out, it uses the next) and video detail.
  • The analysis is saved next to the clip (.analisis.json): watching it again doesn’t use your limit. The uploaded clip is deleted from Google when it’s done.
v0.7.28 October 25, 2026
  • Fixed: the overlay counted the players alive as your kills. The skull column doesn’t exist until your first kill and the counter shifts, so «the third column» was sometimes the players. Now the skull is recognized by its ICON (square and shorter than the teams and players icons) and only the number below it counts. Before your first kill: 0.
  • It no longer says «In match» after you leave the match: the «POST MATCH SUMMARY» screen is detected and the match is closed (if you didn’t see the end, it stays unfinished).
  • It no longer says «Menu» after finding a match: while you search, load or wait in the lobby, the mode box stays on screen but no longer sends you back to «Menu».
v0.7.27 October 25, 2026
  • Mode and map at the top of the overlay as soon as the match starts: «RESURG. CASUAL · HAUNTED HOLLOW», read from the objectives screen (turn on «Show Objectives» in Warzone). It shows in the in-game overlay and in the stream one. Now they’re also looked for while you’re still in the menu or searching for a match, because that screen appears before the phase changes.
  • The stream overlay window has the WZ Defender icon (it used to show Edge’s).
v0.7.26 October 25, 2026
  • Quitting WZ Defender closes all its windows: Settings, Stats and the windowed overlay for streaming. When restarting (or updating) only Settings closes; the new version opens its own.
v0.7.25 October 25, 2026
  • Really fixed: the skull is now located. In 0.7.24 the counter was only located if its three numbers were read at once, and the skull (a lone digit) almost never came out together with the others: it was never located and the overlay didn’t change. Now teams and players are enough (the skull is at the same distance to the right) and it’s confirmed with several reads. After that the skull is read on its own in its place.
  • The log says where the counter ended up and, every minute, how many times the skull was read ([CONTADOR] …).
  • Mode and map from the objectives screen when the match starts (turn on «Show Objectives» in Warzone): «Resurgence Casual — Haunted Hollow». Before, it could save a game phrase as the map.
v0.7.24 October 24, 2026
  • Resurgence wins recognized: the final victory screen doesn’t show «1ST PLACE», it shows the blue «WARZONE / VICTORY» sign. WZ Defender now reads it and counts the match as won (overlay, stats and viewer).
  • «Match kills» goes back to 0 when the match ends (before it kept the last match’s).
  • The log no longer fills up with «Menu / Loading / Searching for match» repeated every quarter of a second (the phase jumped between the menu and the search because both are visible at once).
v0.7.23 October 24, 2026
  • Fixed: the skull wasn’t read and the overlay stayed at 0 kills. The counter was looked for by color (white and blue) and that failed with a blue sky or light walls, and when the player count turns red. Now:
    • it’s read by contrast with its surroundings, whatever the color (white, blue or red);
    • WZ Defender learns where the counter is on your screen and reads the skull by its column even if the other numbers don’t come out;
    • if OCR skips the lone number (a single digit), its box is read separately.
  • The count goes up with 2 matching reads in a row (about 1 second) so a bad read never adds.
  • The log records each skull change ([CALAVERA] 3 -> 4).
v0.7.22 October 24, 2026
  • Windowed overlay for TikTok LIVE Studio (TikTok doesn’t accept http links): a Show in window button in Settings → Overlay (and in the icon menu: «Overlay en ventana (TikTok LIVE)»). It opens the overlay in its own window, «WZ Defender · Overlay», with a solid background and the right size; you add it with Window Capture. It keeps updating even if the game covers it, like WZ Control’s. It closes on its own when you quit WZ Defender.
  • For OBS, the http://127.0.0.1:47815/overlay link as a Browser source still works.
v0.7.21 October 24, 2026
  • Overlay for your stream (TikTok LIVE Studio, OBS, Streamlabs): a link with a transparent background, http://127.0.0.1:47815/overlay, that you add as a Link source (TikTok) or Browser source (OBS), just like alert widgets. It shows the same as the overlay, updates on its own and shows up even if you use «Game Capture» (that capture doesn’t see windows on top of the game, which is why it didn’t appear before). It’s in Settings → Overlay, with a «Copy link» button. The port is changed in puerto_stream.
  • A single Settings window and a single Stats window: double-clicking the icon or pressing the hotkey several times no longer opens several; if it’s already open, it’s brought to the front. Stats reload on their own with new data.
  • Clips play inside Stats in a player with «Close (Esc)»: they no longer replace the page.
  • Recording a hotkey in Settings no longer triggers it: while you record a combination, WZ Defender’s hotkeys are paused (before, recording Ctrl+Shift+R asked whether to reset the day).
v0.7.20 October 24, 2026
  • No more console window: WZ Defender lives in the tray (the icons next to the Windows clock). Clicking the icon opens Settings; right-click opens the menu: save clip, show/hide overlay, stats, clip folder, log, check for updates, reset today’s stats, restart and quit.
  • Settings screen with ALL the .ini options, sorted by section and explained: profile and resolution, codec, audio (list of your devices), hotkeys (recorded by pressing them), detector and clips, clip folder, HDR, overlay and updates. It saves to the same data\wzdefender.ini without deleting your comments.
  • The overlay adjusts live: side, distance from the edge, height, size and opacity with sliders, and which rows it shows (with checkboxes and arrows for the order). Every change shows instantly on your screen. The rest applies with the «Restart now» button.
  • Log data\wzdefender.log: everything that used to show in the console, with date and time, plus a summary every minute (buffer, capture fps, late frames, whether you’re in a match). It’s shown in Settings → Log or in the icon menu → View log.
  • Notices as Windows notifications: update available, errors and the confirmation to reset the day.
  • First run without questions: there’s no audio menu on startup anymore; it starts with Windows’ default audio and Settings opens so you can choose your devices.
  • A single copy: if you open WZ Defender while it’s already open, its Settings open.
  • New shortcut WZ Defender - Configuracion (run Instalar.bat again).
  • For diagnostics: WZDefender.exe --consola also shows the log in a console.
v0.6.19 October 24, 2026
  • Reset today’s stats: press Ctrl+Shift+R twice (the first asks, the second confirms). The overlay and the viewer’s «Today» start from zero from that moment. Nothing is deleted: your full history is kept and the match in progress keeps counting. The hotkey is changed in [teclas] reiniciar_dia.
v0.6.18 October 24, 2026
  • Your kills = the game’s skull, and nothing else. The kill count (overlay, stats and viewer) comes only from the counter at the top right (and from the final screen, which is the same count). The ELIMINATED cards and the killfeed are still used to know WHO you eliminated and for the clips, but they no longer add up.
  • The skull is read properly: once you have kills the number turns light blue, and before only the white numbers were read; it’s also read every half second and a new kill (+1) shows in the overlay instantly.
  • No duplicate victims when the card and the killfeed read the name slightly differently («Oxowfhlceman» / «oxo-wfhlceman»), and marker distances («407m») are no longer taken as names.
v0.6.17 October 24, 2026
  • Your gamertag is learned from the killfeed, not the menu (the menu could read other yellow text: in 0.6.16 it ended up as «MAs»). When your ELIMINATED card and the «X [weapon] victim» line match, X is you; with 2 matches it’s learned, and if the one you had never matched, it corrects itself. With that, the «I eliminated» list fills up.
  • Going back to the menu is detected even if WZ Defender thinks you’re still in a match: before, in that state, it stopped reading the menu’s mode box and never closed the match.
  • Unreadable names (for example «•») are no longer saved as if they were a player or shown in the overlay.
  • The detector runs at low priority and in «efficiency mode» (Windows 11) so it doesn’t take CPU from the game.
  • Diagnostic log in data\detector.log (one line every 10 s with what the detector saw).
v0.6.16 October 24, 2026
  • Fixed: the detector closed when OCR read an accented letter (for example «É») on certain screens. From then on it detected nothing (not even going back to the menu). Also, if a read fails, it’s now skipped and the detector keeps working.
  • Your kills from the killfeed: WZ Defender learns your gamertag in the menu (your name in yellow in the party list) or takes it from gamertag in [general], and reads the list on the left «You [weapon] Enemy». That way the overlay’s «I eliminated» list fills up instantly even if the ELIMINATED card doesn’t show. If both show, it counts one.
  • Faster detector: the kill and death cards are read 4 times per second in their own thread; the counter, the killfeed and the menu go in another.
  • Going back to the menu = unfinished match in about 6 seconds (before it could take longer or not be marked).
  • Repeated names in the overlay are shown once with «×2», «×3»… (OCR sometimes reads everything in capitals).
  • Less load on your graphics card: WZ Defender asks Windows to put its GPU work after the game’s, and there’s a new resolucion option in [grabacion] (native, 1440, 1080, 900 or 720) to record at a lower resolution.
  • Overlay in captures (optional): mostrar_en_capturas = si in [overlay] so it shows up in screenshots and OBS.
v0.6.15 October 24, 2026
  • Stats open in their own window, like WZ Control and WZ Audio (no tabs or address bar). If your PC doesn’t have Microsoft Edge, they open in your browser.
  • Instalar.bat creates the shortcuts even if your Desktop is on another drive or OneDrive: it looks for your real Desktop in several ways, creates the Start menu ones even if the Desktop one fails and leaves a log in data\instalar.log.
v0.6.14 October 24, 2026
  • It’s now part of the WZ suite: downloaded from wzcontrol.app/defender (BETA), with the same versioning system as WZ Control and WZ Audio.
  • One-click updates: on startup, it checks once a day for a new version and lets you know in the console. To install it press Ctrl+Shift+U outside a match. It only accepts updates signed by the author, checks the downloaded file, backs everything up and, if something fails, keeps the previous version. Your settings and stats aren’t touched.
  • The program is now called WZDefender.exe and your settings live in data\wzdefender.ini (the old one is moved automatically the first time).
  • Instalar.bat creates the shortcuts (WZ Defender and WZ Defender · Estadísticas) with the new logo.
  • User manual in Spanish and English, also on the site’s help page.
v0.5.0 October 24, 2026
  • In-game overlay (Ctrl+O): today’s matches (and unfinished ones), a per-mode table (matches, wins and kills), kills in the match and in the day, and the last 3 players who killed you and that you eliminated. Customizable in [overlay]. It doesn’t touch the game and doesn’t show up in your clips.
  • Stats viewer (Ctrl+Shift+E): full history in the browser, with filters by period and mode.
  • Detects the whole match: mode and map from the menu, search, loading, pre-game lobby (its kills no longer count), start, end with placement (1st = win) and unfinished matches if you leave early.
  • Top-right counter: teams, players and your skull; the skull is the official kill count.
  • Suite logo (metal with yellow reflections) as the program’s icon.
v0.4.2 October 24, 2026
  • Match end screen: placement, kills, K/D and damage.
  • Attackers: reads the «ATTACKERS: N» panel when you die.
  • Death clip with 6 extra seconds after the killcam.
  • No duplicate kills from half-read names, and a more reliable enemy level.
v0.4.1 October 24, 2026
  • One clip per scene: a kill streak or a fight that ends in your death is saved in a single clip, with a .json that marks the exact second of each event.
  • Folders by date and type (Bajas, Muertes, Manual) and a disk limit for automatic clips.
v0.4.0 October 24, 2026
  • Automatic detector with the OCR built into Windows: your kills (name, level, medals like HEADSHOT), your deaths (who, clan, rank, level, weapon) and the place on the map.
  • Permanent stats in estadisticas.jsonl and a notice if a player had already killed you before.
